Students from Turkey Attend Classes in Bar, including Darlin, Originally from Haiti, a Caribbean Island Country

Currently, two students from universities in Turkey, along with fellow students from Montenegro, are attending classes at the Faculty of Business Economics and Law (FPEP) in Bar. They arrived in Bar through the Erasmus+ mobility program and are staying at the Student Dormitory while attending classes at the Faculty of English.
Osman Doğan Can Kesgin hails from Afyon Kocatepe University in Turkey, and his classmate, Darlin Philippe, is originally from Haiti, a country in Latin America. Darlin Began her studies in Istanbul four years ago and is now experiencing student life in Montenegro through this exchange program.

According to the Primorski Portal, both students have received an EU grant that covers their expenses while staying in Montenegro. They are impressed with Bar, particularly appreciating the hospitality of the locals and the safety of the town.
Darlin arrived in Bar in the spring, and although she hasn’t had much time to explore Montenegro, she has visited the Old Town of Bar and enjoyed her experience there. She describes the people as warm and welcoming.
„I learned the language and explored the rich culture. Then I began my second program in international trade at Gedik University in Istanbul. Through the mobility program, I came to Montenegro. After spending a short time in this small town, I highly recommend Bar for various reasons. Whether for a study trip or tourism, it’s a city filled with kind people and is a peaceful retreat away from the noise. The cost of living is quite affordable, and nearly everything—faculty, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, and banks—is located within a small area, making daily life simple. What matters most is that, even as a foreigner who still doesn’t speak the language, I quickly realized I am living in a city where I feel safe, and that means a lot to me,” she shared with Primorski Portal, emphasizing the valuable experience she has had with her fellow students at the Faculty.

Last year, students from Slovenia studied at the Faculty of Business Economics and Law (FPEP) in Bar, and starting this October, two more female students from Romania and one student from Turkey are expected to arrive.
“This semester, over 30 lecturers from partner institutions in the EU and the region are also participating in Erasmus+ mobility at FPEP Bar. These individuals are highly regarded professionals in their respective fields. One of them, Professor Andrej Raspor, was our visiting professor and is known as a top researcher in management and innovation. Through this mobility, we also engaged him in the Hackathon organized by the Municipality of Bar,” stated Dr. Nikola Abramović from the Faculty of Business Economics and Law in Bar.
